People asked my (late) mother why she got married so many times but she never said “Because that’s all the fucking patriarchy allows me to do. Not paying me for saving their assess on the daily, or protecting their little lost boy egos from big bad emotions.” They called it marriage because there wasn’t another term that combined wage slave and sex slave they felt comfortable using.
Preach! I spent 2020 working long hours at my current gig, because nothing stops, suffering from panic attacks because my wife is an essential employee and had to go in, missing my loved ones, and the icing on the cake, trying not to get COVID because I'm immunocompromised and would die! How's that for an answer in a @%#@ interview???
UGH. This is exactly what I'm talking about. The tone deaf, obtuse, privileged "I had time for extra stuff so what's your excuse" madness. I'm sorry it's been such a stressful time for you!
Thank you. That was so therapeutic! We survived and no deaths in my family. We have a greater appreciation for our life together and are committed to putting work where it belongs. Balance is everything.
Man, this self-delusion that they can “take emotion out” when you know they’re all covered in inflamed rage boils ready to pop the moment you much a touch them.
Also, that people think it’s over. I lost my dad a WEEK ago to COVID. Now I’ve got to figure out how to capitalize on that experience in order to advance my career?
You are my new spirit animal. The African homicide chicken is a close second.
Go find his video on Cassowaries. Those things...yeesh. Prehistoric and scary and he's hilarious.
Lawd! In the great words of Lady Chablis, “Where are your manners, honnney?”
I haven’t had that one yet in an interview, but thanks for the heads up.
And, cheers to the single mom post on LinkedIn. I’m also a single mom of teenagers (twin daughters), and this past year about did me in.
Please continue with these droplets of pure ragey genius!
Single parenting is hard AF and you're doing it on DOUBLE HARD MODE?? Respect, lady. Mad respect.

I'm so very glad to hear that.

The irony of the most fragility coming from the people who say no one else should be fragile.
Irony? Or the whole fucking plan?
